Education & Prevention

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and there are many things going on to support cancer research. Ten years ago I lost my mom to breast cancer and this cause is very near and dear to my heart. Please take a moment to click-to-donate, or pass it along to those you care about.

The Breast Cancer Site and Care2 offer free mammograms for clicks generated. How can they do this you ask? The advertising sponsors donate to participating partners and the partners fund programs that offer mammograms to women in need. One hundred percent (100%) of the proceeds go to those in need. In 2011 advertisements on The Breast Cancer Site paid for 1,299 mammograms, that is incredible. So get to clicking, every day!

Bank of America is an official sponsor of Susan G Komen and they are giving $5 for Everyday Portraits created through the month of October. This service allows you to upload a photo of someone you know who has battled breast cancer, write a letter in tribute to them and it will generate an illustration using the words you've written. It's a special way to highlight the strengths and fighting spirit of those you love, share on social media or through email and help support the Cure.

The NFL is supporting breast cancer with their fourth-annual fundraising and screening efforts, a partnership with the American Cancer Society. They have raised over $3 million to date, with a majority of the proceeds coming from their online auction items. Tune in to Monday Night Football and you'll see the officials and players wearing pink accessories from logos on the football, arm bands, shoes, and so on. Inspiring.

So jump in and donate, click or just watch some football. ☺
