New Transitions

The End of an Era

Yesterday I turned in the last assignment of my college career.  It was surreal.  I will admit, I debated not turning it in so I wouldn't have to stress about it, knowing I had a high enough grade to get away with it.  I just couldn't, I wanted the satisfaction of writing all seven pages of comparative literature (on Gender and Sexuality in Antiquity) and having it done.  Plus I am kind of meticulous, and if I hadn't finished that paper, I couldn't have checked it off my 'list of things to do before graduation'.  Yes I'm one of those people. ☺

Fast forward to this morning, I left the house for work puzzled by a feeling that I had forgot something at home.  I didn't need my books, backpack, laptop, nothing!  A very new and interesting feeling, since I've been going to work and school full-time for the last two years, in addition to internships after the 8-5 routine.

Unlike many of my colleagues graduating Monday, I have been in the workforce experiencing the corporate world while attending school.  Because of this, I think I will have an easier adjustment to post-grad life.  It will include a lot less stress and hustle, more sleep (zzzz), and more time with my family.  Yippie!  But I will be searching the same job market in the career path we've chosen, which may prove to be a challenge- but I'm up for it!

The Future

Professionally, I am currently the Donor Relations intern for the Oregon Bach Festival, and I will be assisting at events and with coordination of donor benefits through the end of July.  Now that school is done, I am very excited to allot more time to the OBF and their festival efforts.  I have also begun searching for a place to start my career in the Eugene-Springfield community, wish me luck!

Congrats to the class of 2012!
